The portraits I take look for the place where our soul connects with the numinous. Working in nature, or in a location that is filled with spirit and story, my subject and I reach into the liminal space where anything is possible, and work from there. I always hope to achieve a sort of magic realism - a feeling that something mysterious is happening in the frame or just beyond it. Often there really is something almost supernatural occurring. It is a great privilege to witness it.
