Alisa Amador – Hayley Sabella opens
2022 NPR Tiny Desk Contest winner Alisa Amador will appear Friday, October 28 as part of the Old Sloop Presents performing arts series. The performance will be in the handicap-accessible Fellowship Hall of the First Congregational Church of Rockport, 12 School St. at 7:30pm.
Alisa Amador creates music that is a synthesis of the many styles she’s voraciously absorbed: rock, jazz, funk and alternative folk, all wrapped in the spirit of the Latin music she grew up with. NPR’s Cyrena Touros calls her “a pitch-perfect rendition of my wildest dreams,” and NPR’s Bob Boilen calls Alisa “a powerful voice whose tender performance commands attention and fosters connection.” Alisa’s soulful singing, poetically incisive lyrics, and syncopated rhythms are likely to make you cry, laugh, and dance all within one set. Alisa released her debut EP, Narratives, in 2021.
Opener Hayley Sabella was born in coastal Massachusetts but raised in Nicaragua. She has always been inspired by the dramatic landscapes and vast seasonal changes that surrounded her growing up. She has grown into one of New England’s best songwriters, and she won the 2019 New England Songwriting Competition.
