Antje Duvekot at Old Sloop Presents with openers Ash and Eric

Antje Duvekot is a remarkable artist. She was born in Heidelberg, Germany and moved to the United States only at age 13. Nevertherless, she has won three of the top prizes in the English language singer songwriter world: the Grand Prize in the John Lennon Songwriting Competition, the prestigious Kerrville (Texas) Best New Folk Award, and the Boston Music Award for Outstanding Folk Act. She is also a compelling live performer who has played some of America’s top festivals: The Newport Folk Festival, Mountain Stage, the Philadelphia Folk Festival, and the Kerrville Folk Festival. Internationally, she’s headlined the The Celtic Connections Festival in Scotland and the Tonder Festival in Denmark. As if that weren’t enough, Antje is also a wonderful visual artist and animator.

Hailing from Worcester, the gritty heart of the Industrial Revolution, Ash and Eric discover beauty in the challenges of being artists living in one of the most stubbornly independent cities in the northeast. Their songs reflect the hope and pain we all experience in life. Their warm harmonies, swirling acoustic guitars, and easy stage presence have earned them a dedicated following in the folk/singer-songwriter scene.

Tickets for this concert can be purchased in advance for $12 from the Old Sloop Presents website at oldslooppresents.org, at John Tarr Store in Rockport, at The Bookstore of Gloucester, and at the church following worship on Sunday, June 5.  The suggested contribution at the door is $14 for adults, $5 for those age 18 and under, and $28 for families.
