Newburyport Art Association Exhibition Receptions
Newburyport, MA – Newburyport Art Association presents our summer open show, Love is Love: In the Hearts of Newburyport & Pride Around the Northshore, focusing on the all-encompassing emotion of love.
This dual exhibition, taking place in our downstairs mini gallery and upstairs in our Hartson Gallery, aims to look at all of the different sides of ‘love’. In our mini gallery, Love is Love: Pride Around the Northshore exhibits artwork by LGBTQ+ artists of the Northshore celebrating the month of LGBTQ+ Pride. The pieces offer an intimate look into this current moment of LGBTQ+ culture and speak to both the challenges and triumphs of the community. Upstairs in our Hartson Gallery is Love is Love: In the Hearts of Newburyport, which aims to take a peek into the minds and hearts of the Newburyport community. These pieces look at love in a much wider perspective, thinking of the love we feel for our family, our community, and our furry friends, alongside romantic love.
Love is Love: In the Hearts of Newburyport & Pride Around the Northshore is on view through June 26th in our first-floor mini gallery and second-floor Hartson Gallery, and will be on view concurrently with the 2022 Master Artist Exhibition part II. Please join us on Saturday, June 18th, 2022 from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm for an opening reception for these exhibits in the galleries. All work is for sale. The gallery is open Tuesday through Saturday, 11:00am–5:00pm, Sunday 1:00pm–5:00pm.
Newburyport Art Association presents Part II of our annual Master Artists exhibition, showcasing artists in our community who have established themselves not only as artists but as leaders in the greater arts community.
The Master Artist program at the NAA is being revived, and we are hosting a two-part exhibition to celebrate the revitalization. Our second batch of artists are, much like the first group shown back in April, creating unforgettable artwork and leaving a lasting impression on the Newburyport community. Many have been teachers or mentors in the arts community, often the people new artists look to for inspiration or workshops. Their mastery and skill are evident in their art; you can see the care, study, and experience in each work.
The artists celebrated in this exhibition are Amy Vander Els, Ann Jones, Annalee Johnson, Bethany Peck, Carmela Martin, Cheryl Miller, Christine Riccardi, David Stone, Debbie Shirley, Hillary Scott, Janet MacLeod, Jay McCarthy, Judith Larmay, Kelley Hails, Law Hamilton, Madalene Murphy, Maria Nemchuk, Mary Ann Varoski, Mary Webber, Nancy Cahan, Patty deGrandpre, Patricia Schappler, Renee Giffroy, Ryan Kelley, Sara Demrow Dent, Skip Motes, Susan Spellman, and Timothy Neill.
2022 Master Artist Exhibition Part II is on view through June 26th in our first-floor Sargent and Hills Galleries, and will be on view concurrently with Love is Love: In the Hearts of Newburyport & Pride Around the Northshore.
