Salem Award Ceremony at PEM

A celebration and honoring of the work of Jerry Mitchell with discussion from Jerry Mitchell himself. Mitchell spent three decades investigating civil rights cases that went cold. He wrote the book Race Against Time: A Reporter Reopens the Unsolved Murder Cases of the Civil Rights Era. He is a Pulitzer Prize finalist, a MacArthur “Genius”, is decorated with over 20 national awards, and is the Salem Award Winner for 2022! Refreshments will be provided at the event.

The annual Salem Award for Human Rights and Social Justice recognizes and celebrates individuals and organizations who are helping to raise voices and to confront fear and social injustice with courage. The Salem Award was established in 1992, the tercentenary of the Salem Witch Trials.
