Fireflies are surely among the greatest ambassadors for Earth’s natural magic. Their ethereal beauty sparks wonder and for centuries has inspired poets, artists, and children of all ages. Yet they also hold so many mysteries! As Professor of Biology at Tufts University, Sara Lewis has spent the past thirty years exploring the luminous lives of fireflies. In addition to writing numerous scientific articles, Lewis has given a TED talk and has written popular articles for National Wildlife, Undark, CNN, The Guardian, and Natural History. She is one of the founding members of the Fireflyers International Network, and serves as co-chair of the Firefly Specialist Group of the International Union for the Conservation of Nature. Her work has been featured in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, and BBC, along with numerous radio shows and podcasts. She is also the author of Silent Sparks: The Wondrous World of Fireflies.
